Find Belonging at APU
College is a time to discover new interests, build on your strengths, and find your community. The Office of Campus Life helps you create meaningful experiences throughout your time at Azusa Pacific University. You might get “mugged” at Welcome Weekend with an APU mug and a root beer float, attend an on-campus concert with friends, or play in an intramural pickleball tournament.
However you choose to get involved, we help you meet your people, whether that’s joining a dance team, cleaning up our local coastal environment, teaming up for outdoor adventures, or exploring other ways to connect.

What’s New at APU?
Open modalAPU welcomed hundreds of new students and their families to campus for the 2025-26 school year.

APU Welcome Weekend
At the beginning of each fall and spring semester, we host a Welcome Weekend to introduce new undergraduate students, their families, and their guests to the Azusa Pacific community. Over three days, you
- move into on-campus housing;
- connect with clubs and organizations through a community fair;
- meet your first-year Alpha Group; and
- participate in longstanding APU traditions such as Candela and Student [Mug]ging (with root beer floats).
During this time, you also have the chance to meet other students and families, and we offer mixer events for a wide range of groups, including veterans, first-generation students, pastors’ kids, and third-culture kids (TCKs).
APU Alpha Program
Build lasting connections in your first year at APU through our Alpha Program orientation groups for first-year and transfer students. During your first semester, your Alpha Leader hosts your group for weekly meetings where you meet other new students, discover support resources, and enjoy making memories on campus.
APU Clubs and Organizations
Through more than 25 clubs and organizations open to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, you’ll find like-minded peers and form deep relationships with people you would not cross paths with in your program. If you can’t find an option that aligns with your interests or goals, you can also charter a new group that may continue impacting APU students long after you graduate.

On-Campus Events at APU
In addition to Welcome Weekend, you can get involved through our other annual Campus Life Classics, such as Fall Fest, Campus Life Market, Dodgeball Tournament, and Last Bash.

The thing that made the most sense was starting a club. Free the Captives started my freshman year and by the time I left senior year, we were the second largest club on campus. Campus Recreation
Forge strong friendships by playing, competing, and exercising through recreational activities. APU has a state-of-the-art fitness center, and we offer seven intramural sports during the fall and spring semesters.

The Office of Commuter Life supports you as a commuter student in an undergraduate, graduate, or professional program by offering a range of services at the Cougar Dome (our Student Union), including refrigerators and microwaves, lockers, and a free daily snack and cup of coffee.
You can also create your community at Azusa Pacific by joining organizations, attending events, and playing on teams while you are on campus.
