Staying Active, Staying Healthy

The goal of the Campus Recreation program is to provide a safe, welcoming environment where the Azusa Pacific University community can play, exercise, compete, develop spiritually, enhance sportsmanship and character, and find fun and satisfaction while participating in recreational activities.

The Campus Recreation program aims to:

  • Promote physical activity and interaction among the community in harmony with the Gospel of Jesus.
  • Support students in building new friendships
  • Encourage a feeling of understanding and camaraderie in sharing our diverse cultural backgrounds and ethnic heritage.
  • Offer an enjoyable, comprehensive, and wholesome program of activities that will foster the development of personal physical fitness, and promote interest and participation in recreational sports regardless of skills and abilities.

Facilities

By providing athletic facilities, the university supplies positive environments for recreation. Students, faculty, and staff congregate in these areas to fellowship and exercise. Check out the following for a description of each facility.

Cougar Dome Court

Located inside the Student Union building, this facility is designed for basketball and volleyball games.

Felix Event Center Courts

These facilities, located on both levels of the building, are also home to APU’s basketball and volleyball teams.

Dillon Recreation Complex

The Dillon Recreation Complex is where many flag football and soccer games are played. This field is adjacent to Adams Hall.

Fitness Center

The Fitness Center and Weight Room is a multipurpose exercise facility for various academic classes and athletic teams, and also serves as a wellness center for Azusa Pacific students, faculty, and staff.

The Fitness Center has several new stationary bikes, treadmills, and elliptical cross trainer machines, and the Weight Room has a plethora of weight machines, dumbbells, kettlebells, and bench press equipment. There are also yoga mats, a resistance band area, an abdominal roller, jump ropes, medicine balls, and plyo boxes.

Tuesday/Thursday
KIN Classes: 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Athletics: 12:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
General Use: 8:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m., 5:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m.

Friday
Athletics: 12:30 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
General Use: 8:00 a.m.-12:30 a.m., 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.
