Applied Instructor, Harp

Allison Allport, DMA, is heard on many movie scores including John Williams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Orchestral highlights include performances with Los Angeles Opera Orchestra and Pacific Symphony. Across genres, Allison records and performs with bands such as Weezer and Lord Huron.
Allison is on faculty at California State University, Northridge, and Azusa Pacific University, and maintains a large private studio.
Allison studied harp with JoAnn Turovsky at the University of Southern California, earning a Doctorate of Music in harp performance with minors in orchestration, conducting and music education. At USC, Allison earned a full-tuition scholarship and Outstanding Graduate Award.
Other honors include first prize in the American String Teacher’s Association National Solo Competition. Allison was a soloist at Lyon and Healy Harptacular 2020 and performed at the World Harp Congress in Prague and in Beijing with Pacific Symphony.
Allison also leads educational programs for the L.A. Chapter of the American Harp Society. In her spare time, she loves teaching her deaf dog, Chip, new tricks, and is working towards her pilot’s license.
