Andrew Alstot, PhD, joined the APU faculty in 2015 to teach in the graduate physical education program. Prior to that, he taught at a private Christian high school while completing a master’s degree, then he and his wife moved to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where he completed a PhD. He then accepted a faculty position at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, remaining there until joining APU. His professional expertise is in physical education pedagogy with a focus on the development of teachers, coaches, and administrators who instruct and administer quality research-based physical education and sport programs. His research has centered on the application of the principles of applied behavior analysis in physical activity settings to improve exercise behavior, motor skills, motivation, and the social behavior of students and athletes within the physical activity context.
