Assistant Professor
Claudia Rivera is a licensed clinical social worker with over twenty years of experience working with children, youth, and families. As a bilingual social worker in public child welfare, she specialized in working with families with special medical needs, substance abuse–related issues, and/or sexual abuse trauma in the areas of emergency response, court investigation, and resource parent training. Rivera also has experience in school social work and medical social work, with a focus on early childhood development, and has provided supervision for undergraduate and graduate social work students as a practicum instructor throughout her career. Since 2018, she has taught field practicum seminar classes as an adjunct professor at Azusa Pacific University to MSW generalist foundation year and clinical specialization year students. She currently holds a half-time assistant professor position, teaching the MSW specialization year child welfare field practicum seminar class.
