Ebere Ume, PhD is a professor of nursing at Azusa Pacific University. She was the founding director of Nursing at Southern California University of Health Science, where she helped to set up a new nursing program. Recently, Ume served as the dean of the Leach College of Nursing at University of St. Francis, Joliet, Illinois, and was previously the Associate Dean of Nursing and the RN-BSN Program Director; also formerly the Entry Level Masters (ELM, pre-licensure) Program Director at the Mervyn M. Dymally School of Nursing at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science (CDU). She received her PhD in Nursing and Healthcare Innovations from Arizona State University (ASU) in 2013 with a dual focus in Gerontology and Nursing Education; her master’s (Educator’s option) and baccalaureate degrees in nursing from California State University, Dominguez Hills, Carson, CA. Her major academic foci include, nursing education, faculty and student mentorship, grants development and management, research development, global health, and capacity building at institutional and international levels. Her research interests include, post-caregiving transitions, hospice and palliative care, and cancer survivorship and caregiver in underserved populations.
