Karen French, DNP, chairs the Department of Advanced Practice Registered Nursing for all APU campuses. Being a family nurse practitioner is the fourth-best job she’s ever had; the first three are being a wife, mother, and a grandmother to nine little cuties! She enjoys living at the beach, golfing, exercising, and traveling to see her children.
French has been teaching in the APU nursing program since 2005, and she loves working as an FNP in primary care, which she’s done for many years. More recently, she has worked in hepatology and gastroenterology, focusing on metabolic associated steatosis hepatitis (MASH) liver disease, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), and cirrhosis. Her area of interest is osteoporosis.
