Kenneth L. Waters, Sr., PhD is Professor Emeritus of Personnel, Contracts, and Undergraduate Studies in the School of Theology of Azusa Pacific University. He currently focuses his expertise in the New Testament and early Christian literature, the book of Revelation and other apocalyptic literature, Second-Temple Judaism and the Greco-Roman world, biblical and Christian ethics, the personalities of Jesus and Paul, and African American religious history and thought.
Waters is a licensed and ordained minister in the Missionary Baptist Church. He has previously served for 28 years as senior pastor in the African Methodist and United Methodist Churches. He has also served as interim pastor in Lutheran and nondenominational churches. He is married to Deborah Tarver Waters, a licensed and ordained minister in Life Changing Ministries of San Bernardino and former teacher in the San Bernardino Unified School District.
