Mary Ann McMillan, EdD, is an Assistant Professor in the Criminal Justice Department at Azusa Pacific University, bringing extensive expertise in education and global affairs. She earned her Bachelor’s in Law and Criminal Justice from the University of North Georgia, followed by a Master’s in Intercultural Studies and a Doctorate in Education, focusing on global affairs and orphan care in Rwanda. McMillan’s international experience includes living in Ukraine and the Czech Republic for two and a half years, where she engaged in mission work and taught English. Her humanitarian efforts span nearly 30 countries, providing training and support to Christian NGOs, government officials, and nonprofits. With 15 years in student affairs and six years as an adjunct professor, she has most recently served as a Title IX investigator and director of student conduct at Jessup University, contributing significantly to DEI and HSI committees. A former foster youth and adoptee, McMillan's personal experiences drive her commitment to human rights and social justice. She has authored articles and contributed to books on foster care, adoption, and humanitarian work, and is currently writing a book on her experiences. McMillan’s true passion lies in education and advocacy, fields in which she continues to make a meaningful impact.
