Paul Boles, PhD, brings his years of church ministry as an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and work as a hospice chaplain to his teaching and scholarship, focusing his interests on the experience and reception of the church’s beliefs. His primary interest is in the history of preaching as a public performance of biblical interpretation. Boles has presented nationally and internationally and published work on the 2nd/ 3rd century Church Father, Origen’s use of allegory in the pulpit and the way in which different methods of interpreting the Bible brought about different experiences of the Bible in the early Church.
