Applied Instructor, Trumpet; Director of Jazz Ensemble

Robert Slack received a Master’s Degree in Trumpet Performance from Indiana University, and since then, he has grown to be a respected professional in the music industry. Mr. Slack shares with his students and faculty impressive personal and professional experience. Including several years touring professionally with Paul Anka and Buddy Rich, Mr. Slack has also performed with Frank Sinatra, Celine Dion, Ella Fitzgerald, Liza Minnelli, Kenny Rogers, Julio Igleses, Arturo Sandoval, Mel Thorme, The Spinners, The O’Jays, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and Trisha Yearwood, Sammy Nestico, to name just a few. Mr. Slack’s talents have extended into numerous recording sessions for Mattel, Toyota, Diet Coke, Pillsbury, Ford Motor, Taco Bell, Tristar Pictures, Disneyland, NBC News and CNN. Film credits include Disney’s D3: The Mighty Ducks, Casper, Dillinger and Capone, Dozens of HBO Films, Warner Bros. cartoons, and the hit movie, That Thing You Do! Mr. Slack has also performed at the White House for former President Ronald Reagan and a command performance for President Reagan “An Evening at Ford’s Theater” Among his honors, Mr. Slack received the coveted Jazz Educator of the Year Award from the International Jazz Educator’s Association, and the Paul Harris fellow award for exemplary work as an educator. Mr. Slack is a Conn-Selmer artist.
