Stanley Deal, MS, CPA
Professor Emeritus, School of Business and Management
Stanley Deal, MS, CPA, came to Azusa Pacific University as an adjunct in 1984 and became a full-time faculty member in 1986. His focus has been teaching principles of financial and managerial accounting, intermediate accounting, and federal taxation at the undergraduate level. With the addition of the Master of Professional Accountancy program, he added a course in accounting and tax research methods. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he maintains an active professional career as a partner in the firm of Davis & Deal, CPAs, specializing in the taxation of individuals, small business entities, nonprofit organizations, estates, and trusts. He has advised and served on the boards of numerous nonprofit organizations ranging from Christian ministries to historical societies and community land conservancies.
His teaching focus has been the connection between classroom theory and practical application, and he has a passion for demonstrating how the theory that students learn in the classroom is the foundation for the demands they will face as practitioners in a dynamic and rapidly changing world. Central to preparing students to become professionals of integrity and character is an understanding of how the Christian faith empowers the difficult decision-making they will confront.
He was named the Alpha Chi Outstanding Professor in 1991, received the Chase A. Sawtell Inspirational Faculty Award in 1996, was voted the School of Business and Management Professor of the Year in 1995, 2000, and 2006, and was inducted into the Alumni Academic Hall of Fame in 2002.
