Vicky Bowden, DNSc, RN, held many roles during her time at APU: professor and assistant director of undergraduate programs in the School of Nursing, director of the Honors Program, WSCUC accreditation liaison officer, and vice provost. Bowden is also a nurse scientist in nursing research and innovation at Children’s Hospital of Orange County, and has co-authored three textbooks: Pediatric Nursing Procedures (Wolters Kluwer Health, 2016), Children and Their Families: The Continuum of Care (Lippincott Williams and Wilkins, 2013), and Family Nursing: Research, Theory, and Practice(Pearson, 2002). Bowden is a member of the Pediatric Nursing journal editorial board and is a peer reviewer for several journals, and is active in the Iota Sigma Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society and in the Orange County Chapter of the Society of Pediatric Nurses. As an author, nurse scientist, and educator, Bowden has championed using evidence-based practice to transform nursing and ensure that high-quality health care is provided to all patients and their families.
