Department of Public Health

Shaping Public Health with Compassion

Uniquely equipped with both practical skills and faith-based compassion, our graduates prepare to transform the health of their communities through our values-driven program. Our students don’t just learn in the classroom, they serve real people—we currently hold more than 800 contracts for field practicum opportunities from hospitals, to nonprofits, to state health departments, and beyond.

We offer innovative and relevant faith integration, a healthcare equity specialization, global health study away opportunities, and elective course work in a variety of professional areas, from emergency preparedness to health administration. We provide in person and online options, as well as flexible schedules, to support all students where they are in their life and in the world.

How an APU Graduate’s Public Health Degree Prepared Her for the Pandemic

Azusa Pacific University graduate Talene Zadekian, MPH ’20, quickly saw how her public health degree would shape her perspective of the pandemic from the beginning.

She was completing an international health course in Panama with fellow APU Master of Public Health (MPH) and nursing students when California issued its state of emergency in March 2020.
