Magnolia CourtGidget Wood graduated with her bachelor’s degree in nursing and her master’s degree
in nursing with Family Nurse Practitioner Certification from Azusa Pacific University.
She came to the Student Health Center as the women’s health nurse practitioner in
2005. Wood took on the leadership of the center as administrative director in 2008.
She is also an adjunct faculty in the School of Nursing MSN program. Her passion is
empowering young women in self-care and influencing the development of women in leadership.
Todd Emerson earned a BS in Biology from Azusa Pacific University in 1992 and an osteopathic
medical degree in 1996 from Kansas City University of Health Sciences. He completed
a three-year residency in family medicine at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center
in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1999 and is board-certified in family medicine. Prior to coming
to APU, Emerson practiced in Everett, Washington, for nine years where he had a busy
family practice that included sports medicine and obstetrics.
Katie Shubin graduated from Wheaton College with a BS in Kinesiology in 2002, and
in 2005, she earned a master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Midwestern
University in Arizona. She has previously worked in pain and occupational medicine
and has served at the Student Health Center since 2008. Shubin enjoys treating students
within the health center, participating in medical mission trips, and mentoring female
students.
Hannah Tsai graduated with a BS in Physiological Science from UCLA in 2007 and an
MSN with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner from CSULA in 2013. Hannah joined
the APU Student Health Center team in 2017. Previously, she served in primary care
at community outreach clinics and at private practices. She also worked at Cerritos
College Student Health Center before coming to APU. Hannah enjoys working with the
college student population and teaching them more about their health.
Brandon Gonzalez attended Azusa Pacific University where he earned his Bachelors of
Science in Biology in 2016 and his Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 2022. Previously,
Brandon had worked within the family medicine setting that focused on preventative
medicine, chronic conditions, as well as acute and pediatric care. He enjoys mentoring
and building meaningful connections with students as well as offering guidance and
support that empowers them to establish a solid foundation for their overall health
and well-being. In his free time, Brandon enjoys his family trips to Disneyland, serving
in the worship ministry at his local church as a keyboardist, and watching/playing
basketball.
Mondai Keene joined the Student Health Center in February 2023. She has Certificate
Degrees as a Medical Assistant, Dietitian Assistant, Certified Professional Coder.
She worked for Kaiser Permanente asa Medical Assistant and at the Vanderbilt University
Clinical Research Center as a Dietitian’s Assistant. She lived in North Carolina for
15 years with her Husband, Professor Christopher Keene APU Theatre Arts and two daughters.
She performed as part of a drama missions ministry and enjoys historical reenacting
and above all spending time at the BEACH. She has a heart for students and likes bringing
a smile to everyone.
