The Interlibrary Services Department provides a means for prompt delivery of books, articles and other resources to APU students and faculty for the support of research and teaching. Please note that a patron must owe less than $5 in fines to utilize this service.

About Inter Library Loan

Interlibrary Loan is a library service that borrows items from other libraries for our APU students, faculty, and staff. Items borrowed from other libraries are items not available at any of the APU libraries. Items that Interlibrary Loan will borrow for our APU patrons:

  • Books or chapters from a book
  • Copies of articles in periodicals

EBooks and media items may not be borrowed for our APU patrons.

Please refer to the Interlibrary Services webpage and search by item type.

There is no charge.

Requests submitted will show on your ‘My Library Account.’ All books and other requests will not show on your (patron) library account. It is the patron’s responsibility to keep track of what they have ordered. Patrons may contact the Interlibrary Loan Department by phone, email, or in person for verification of their orders or to check the status of a request.

90 percent of all article requests are emailed to the patron’s email. For other items, all pickups are at the Marshburn Memorial Library. There is no pickup in Darling or Stamps.

Azusa campus students are to pick up ILL items. Faculty and staff have the privilege of having their items mailed to their department or office through intercampus mail. Patrons who are studying online or at a regional center or faculty who are on sabbatical will have their items mailed to their house via Document Delivery.

Please refer to the Interlibrary Services information by item type.

It is the borrower's responsibility to:

  • Know when materials are due to be returned.
  • Return or renew material on or before the due date.
  • Exercise care in handling all library materials.

You may keep copies of articles. Books are generally loaned for one month, but vary according to the lending library.

For all Azusa campus patrons, Interlibrary Loan materials must be returned or renewed on or before the due date. Book drops are located at the entrance to each library. In addition, a return depository is located at the sidewalk leading up to the Darling Library. Patrons may also return books directly to the Interlibrary Loan department located in Marshburn Library.

For online and regional campus patrons, Interlibrary Loan materials can be returned by mail using the postage-paid mailing label included in your package via Document Delivery.

Materials may be renewed by contacting the Interlibrary Loan Department directly either by phone, email or in person.

For articles, there is no overdue or lost policy.

For books, Interlibrary Loan sends an overdue notice as a reminder to the patron to return or renew the book. If the patron does not return or renew the item within seven days of the notice, books will be fined at $1.00 per day.

Materials will be billed for replacement and processing fees assessed if materials are excessively overdue. The replacement fee will be determined by the lending library and not APU. All fines and fees are charged to the patron’s account.

Overdue fines, replacement bills, and processing fees must be paid by cash or check at the circulation desk in the Stamps, Marshburn, or Darling libraries. Outstanding debts will result in the suspension of all library privileges until the debt is resolved. Students may not transfer library fees to their university accounts.

The office is located on the main level, east wing of the Marshburn Library on APU’s East Campus. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. You may contact the office by phone, email, or in person during the hours of operation.
