The Society of American Archivists defines “manuscript” as: 1) a handwritten document,
2) an unpublished document, or 3) an author’s draft of a book, article, or other work
submitted for publication. Azusa Pacific’s Manuscript Collection includes handwritten
documents from people such as Archbishop John Carroll, S.S. Wesley, and King James
I, unpublished documents such as Mrs. James J. Ayers’ diary, and book drafts from
Clifford Drury (Nine Years With The Spokane Indians) and Gloria Lothrop (Recollections Of The Flathead Mission). It also contains Civil War letters, Gold Rush letters, and John Muir letters.
