Roger Dalton Collection
Roger Dalton was the grandson of Henry Dalton, the British ranchero who owned Rancho Azusa. Through his paternal grandmother, Roger Dalton was related to many of the prominent families of early California, including the Arguellos, the Carrillos, and the Zamoranos. This collection contains correspondence, drafts of speeches on local history, notes on the history of the San Gabriel Canyon, and photographs of the San Gabriel Mountains and canyon areas. The collection also includes papers of Sam Browne (1870-1951), a Los Angeles detective who served on several important criminal investigations in the 1910s.
The three linear feet of manuscripts and photographs provide much valuable information concerning the early history of Azusa. The Roger Dalton Collection was a gift of Dorothy Wainscott and Earl Baker to Azusa Pacific College.

Collection Highlight
A highlight of the collection is a 1951 map called Water Data: Morris Reservoir to Mouth of San Gabriel Canyon, which was hand-drawn by Roger Dalton for C.A. Griffith:
