The APU Core: Pathways to Flourishing

A Christian Liberal Arts Education, Reimagined.

The APU Core general education program equips you to flourish—intellectually, morally, and spiritually—whether you’re exploring life’s biggest questions, preparing to lead in a complex world, or diving deep into Scripture.

3 Core Postures We’ll guide you to grow in: Pursuing Wisdom, Preparing to Serve, and Living Out God’s Love.
54 Units Refreshed We’ve refreshed the GE requirements to unite 54 units in humanities, sciences, biblical studies, and theology to cultivate a holistic education.
18-Unit Embedded Minor 18 units of distinctive biblical and theological formation courses form a minor embedded within the APU Core. You have the option of declaring this minor.

Learning Goals That Shape Your Life

The APU Core moves beyond information to transformation. Its six learning goals guide students to grow in Christ, pursue scholarship with purpose, engage deeply in community, and prepare for a life of Kingdom-centered service.

Develop a biblically grounded and critically engaged worldview as you integrate faith, learning, and living in pursuit of wisdom and true flourishing.
Grow in character and virtue by engaging in reflective practices and spiritual disciplines, developing biblically informed values, pursuing holistic well-being, and relating to others with humility and compassion.
Discern your calling by exploring your gifts and passions and considering how you might contribute to God’s redemptive mission in the world.
Develop critical and creative capacities by identifying reliable sources, interpreting texts, evaluating arguments, solving problems, and engaging with artistic expression.
Apply mathematical, statistical, scientific, and social scientific methods to explain natural and human phenomena.
Communicate effectively and collaborate thoughtfully as you work together with others to achieve shared goals.
