The APU Core: Pathways to Flourishing
A Christian Liberal Arts Education, Reimagined.
The APU Core general education program equips you to flourish—intellectually, morally, and spiritually—whether you’re exploring life’s biggest questions, preparing to lead in a complex world, or diving deep into Scripture.

Learning Goals That Shape Your Life
The APU Core moves beyond information to transformation. Its six learning goals guide students to grow in Christ, pursue scholarship with purpose, engage deeply in community, and prepare for a life of Kingdom-centered service.
From Cornerstones to Higher Calling

Every student begins…
…with Cornerstones, a seminar grounded in Christ, Scholarship, Community, and Service. You’ll build on that foundation with courses in:
• Biblical studies
• Theology
• Humanities
• Sciences
• Communication
The APU Core culminates in a Calling and Character Seminar, integrating your faith and vocation as you prepare to launch into life after college.

Foundations for Flourishing
Along the way, you’ll explore what true thriving looks like — for yourself and your
community — in three new interdisciplinary seminars that build on your biblical and
theological studies:
- Cultivating Wellness
Develop habits for lifelong well-being — spiritually, emotionally, socially, physically, academically, and financially. - Visions of the Good Life
Explore life’s enduring questions through powerful works of art, literature, history, and philosophy that awaken a deeper longing for truth, goodness, and beauty. - Seeking Shalom Seminar
Engage complex societal challenges with curiosity and compassion as you learn how you can contribute to the flourishing of others.
