First-Year Students
Freshman Applicants
Freshman applicants are not required to have completed a specific set of courses, but the following college preparatory courses are strongly recommended:
- English (four years)
- Mathematics (including first- and second-year algebra and geometry)
- Science (two years, including a laboratory science)
- Foreign language (two years)
- United States history or government
- Strong academic electives
Academic capabilities, as well as involvement in church, school, and community activities, are considered in assessing the applicant’s potential for success at the university. The application process is designed as a tool for making these assessments.
Application Requirements
The following application requirements are for students currently enrolled in high school or who have earned fewer than 28 units of college credit following high school graduation.
1. Application, Statement of Agreement with Institutional Policy, and Personal Statement
2. Transcripts
The applicant is responsible for requesting that official transcripts1 be sent from the high school from which they graduated (or is currently attending)

Deadlines
Azusa Pacific offers three application deadlines2: Early Action, Regular Decision (priority), and Final. Many students choose to apply for Early Action. This is encouraged if you are a high school senior and Azusa Pacific University is one of your top-choice colleges.
The following deadlines are firm and apply to first-year freshmen and transfer students. Applications may be submitted after the Early Action and Regular Decision deadlines, but it cannot be guaranteed that such applications will be given the same consideration as those submitted on or before the Early Action and Regular Decision deadline dates.
Early Action (Freshmen Only)
- November 15 application deadline
Regular Decision
- March 1 priority application deadline (recommended deadline)
- June 1 final deadline (incoming freshmen; may be subject to an enrollment waiting list)
- August 1 final transfer deadline (transfer students; may be subject to an enrollment waiting list)
Note that there may be an enrollment waiting list that begins before the final June 1 deadline. Applications should be submitted by March 1 to ensure priority consideration for both admission and financial aid.
- October 15 priority application deadline (recommended deadline)
- December 1 final deadline (may be subject to an enrollment waiting list)
>Note that there may be an enrollment waiting list that begins before the final December 1 deadline. Applications should be submitted by October 15 to ensure priority consideration for both admission and financial aid.
By applying to the Early Action deadline, students can potentially learn of acceptance to their top-choice schools early. This means more time to spend on identifying the best financial aid packages, planning campus visits, and ultimately, selecting the college with the best fit. Students accepted through Early Action still have until May 1 to make their final decision, but the sooner you secure your spot, the sooner you can start planning to attend.
Candidates not accepted for Early Action will be notified that they will be reconsidered for admission under Regular Decision. This will allow time for additional materials to be submitted that might strengthen the overall file (e.g., fall grades and/or additional SAT/ACT scores).
Students applying for Early Action will be notified of their admission status within three weeks of completion. Applicants for Regular Decision and those not offered admission through Early Action will receive notification by April. Applications are reviewed and decisions are mailed on a rolling basis. It is to the benefit of each student to complete the application requirements as early as possible.
