Alex Oh, MS
Director of Campus Life
Alex graduated from UCSD with a BS in Management Science to pursue a career in business, but God had something else for him. His active involvement in student leadership roles at UCSD led him to pursue his master’s in college counseling and student development at Azusa Pacific University, and has served in the higher education field. Alex is married to Hanna, and has two kids, Lucy and Luke.
Sydney Schneider, MS
Associate Director of Campus Life
Sydney was born and raised in Sacramento, California. She earned a BS in Psychology from Biola University and most recently graduated from APU with an MS in College Counseling and Student Development. Sydney found her love for student affairs while serving as a resident advisor during her time as an undergraduate student, and deepened this passion while serving in campus life and student wellness during her graduate studies. Her free time is spent exploring the area with her husband, Kody, watching movies, drinking coffee, and finding new books to read.

Favorite Verse: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.” - 2 Corinthians 5:17-19
Favorite Aspect of APU: The community! To be at APU is to be known by so many people! Every aspect of my APU journey has allowed me to create such great relationships with so many people. These relationships are full of support and encouragement that will carry through your time at APU.
Advice for Incoming Students: Allow yourself to be open and embrace the opportunities that you have at APU. There are so many ways to get involved on campus and I would hope that you are open to trying each and every one! Please reach out to others and be vulnerable as you are making new connections to campus. I also hope that you will enjoy and appreciate where you are in your college journey and know that each of you were meant to be at APU!

Favorite Verse: “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” — Romans 5:1-5
Favorite Aspect of APU: In my experience here at APU, the community makes this place so special! Not only other students, but faculty and staff also make the campus feel special. I believe this is because the light of Jesus Christ is alive here APU. There are so many different clubs and organizations to be a part of on-campus that not only supports the growth of who you are as a person, but also supports the growth of your faith. It is so special here!
Advice for Incoming Students: Lean into all the opportunities you have here on campus, get involved! There will be so many people that you will meet who are both similar and different from you, but both will allow you to not only find confidence in who you truly are, but also learn about new perspectives from people all around the world here! Freshman year seems to always feel crazy for most people, since you are trying to feel a sense of belonging and build relationships. Give yourself grace in those moments, the right people will come into your lives at APU, all in God‘s timing! The four years go by so quickly, so get plugged in on campus, create intentional time for yourself, work hard in school, and don’t forget to make time to call your family at home! They miss you!
