Quantitative Reasoning Requirement Options

There are several pathways (PDF) you can follow to help you meet the APU Core Quantitative Reasoning requirement, but most pathways begin with the ALEKS placement assessment. Determine whether you are required to use ALEKS.

There are five courses that satisfy the Quantitative Reasoning requirement:

  • BUSI 111 Business Statistics
  • MATH 110 College Algebra
  • MATH 115 Mathematics in Society
  • MATH 130 Introduction to Statistics
  • UNRS 299 Statistics and Data Management for Nursing and Health Care

Students whose major and minor do not require a specific course from this list (scroll down for details) are encouraged to take MATH 115 Mathematics in Society.

Students who achieve any of the scores in the table below have already satisfied the Quantitative Reasoning requirement and need to take an additional course from above only if required to do so for their major or minor.
